Minimum magnitude

Ideally the electrochemical molecular recognition process should result in a large shift of the redox potential of the host species. Within each cylinder the 6-value is calculated from the FMD obtained from the sample and in this case one can either assume a constant Me (usually equal to the minimum magnitude within the sample) or calculate the FMD locally. It is usually a good practice to calculate 6-values using both methods and trying several sampling schemes to test the stability of the results. 

From the analysis of strong-motion data of Japan, Taiwan, and Italy, Zollo et al. (2010) calibrated the threshold values, for the definition of four alert levels (0, 1,2,3) (Fig. 5a).
