Milbemycin spiroacetal fragment

Reaction of 57 with (iS)-malic acid-derived 58 yields the spiroacetal 59, which is a key fragment utilized in the total synthesis of (+ )-milbemycin (See Chapter 3, Scheme 82) [27].
