An additional indirect assay of neutrophil motility is the actin polymerization assay. Chemoattractants induce a rapid, transient actin polymerization response in neutrophils (reviewed in [289, 391]), and since actin polymerization is required for migration to occur, it is often used as an indication of chemotactic capability. Several approaches have been developed to measure this response (reviewed in [289, 391]) (Table 2). Most commonly, cells in suspension are mixed with a putative chemoattractant then fixed and stained with a fluorescent phaUotoxin that binds to polymerized actin, but not monomeric actin. The bound fluorescence is quantified using flow cytometry or spectrofluorometry. The actin polymerization response to many neutrophil chemoattractants is rapid, reaching a maximum within 10 s of stimulus addition at 37° C. As with the cell polarization assay, no information about the migratory properties of the cells is obtained with the actin polymerization assay, only the likelihood of chemotactic activity is assessed. Like the cell polarization assay, the actin polymerization assay is useful for initial screening of chemoattractants, but must be followed up with an actual measurement of motility.

There is no net increase in RNA content, per embryo, however, until 72 hours postcoitum at which time there is a marked acceleration of uridine incorporation accompanying the transformation of the morula into a blastocyst as the embryo leaves the oviduct and enters the uterus (Manes, 1969). The qualitative aspects of RNA synthesis in preimplantation rabbit embryos have been investigated by the electrophoretic separation of tritium-labeled embryonic RNA on polyacrylamide gels (Manes, 1971). Labeling of RNA species having migratory properties identical with those of tRNA are detectable from the 2-cell stage onward. 

The most common plasticiser for PVA is DBP (di-butyl phthalate) as higher molecular weight phthalates are not compatible. Superior non-migratory properties are conferred by certain polyester plasticisers, such as Reoplex -400, which is particularly useful for PVA-based glass fibre size used to maintain coherence of the glass fibre mat before reinforcing with polyester resin, as well as in adhesive applications. 

Phthalocyanine pigments. A limited colour range of blues and greens is available. The basic structure is an extremely chemically stable copper complex with outstanding heat, light and non migratory properties. 

Azo-condensation —yellows, oranges and reds. The molecular weight of this range is higher than hat of the bis-arylamide types. They exhibit excellent all round properties of heat, light and non migratory properties.
