Mid-infrared Synchrotron Radiation FT-IR Studies of Oral Tissue Sections

3 Mid-infrared Synchrotron Radiation FT-IR Studies of Oral Tissue Sections [Pg.295]

Visual images of an oral tissue section (a) H E stained, 4x magnification (b) unstained, 32 x magnification, showing the centres, marked with a +, of the lOpmxlOpm areas from which FT-IR microscopy spectra were recorded. The white dotted lines on (b) have been superimposed to highlight the boundaries between the tumour and stroma regions. The white dashed square around point 10 delineates the aperture size. [Pg.295]

Two other areas from the tissue section were similarly examined, and individually realized similar results. In total 44 single-point spectra were recorded from the three examinations of separate areas and combined into one pre-processed data set for subsequent HCA, the dendrogram from which is shown [Pg.297]

Preliminary multivariate analysis very clearly showed that the spectrum recorded from area element number 46 was atypical of the remainder in the set and an outlier. When overlaid over the others in the set, this spectrum, even after the pre-processing steps, clearly contained a more distorted baseline than [Pg.298]

The superimposed dashed white line grid on the image shows the areas (lOpmxlOiim) from which SRS FT-IR spectra were recorded. These were numbered as shown in the grid below the image. [Pg.300]
