Methylmalonic acidemia is an inborn error of metabolism leading to renal tubular dysfunction and to progressive renal failure in many cases. Renal disease seems to be caused by toxic products of metabolism and can be ameliorated by good metabolic control. Renal US is not specific. Further imaging maybe required according to chronic renal failure or after transplantation, as combined liver-kidney transplantation is a promising therapeutic option (also see Chap. 21) (van t Hoff et al. 1999). [Pg.373]
