Methylamine transport

Inhibitory Uncouplers. Inhibitory uncouplers inhibit the reactions affected by both electron transport inhibitors and uncouplers. Hence, they inhibit basal, methylamine-uncoupled, and coupled electron transport with ferricyanide as electron acceptor and water as the electron donor, much like electron transport inhibitors. Coupled noncyclic photophosphorylation is inhibited and the phosphorylation reaction is slightly more sensitive than the reduction of ferricyanide. Cyclic photophosphorylation is also inhibited. NADP reduction, when photosystem II is circumvented with ascorbate + DPIP, is not inhibited however, the associated phosphorylation is inhibited. Inhibitory uncouplers act at both sites 1 and 2 (Figure 2). [Pg.65]

Methanogenesis from methylamines (Reaction 6, Table 2) follows almost the same route as methanol to CH4 and CO2 [227], although each system probably requires specific components for substrate transport, and to form a common methylated product. For example, extracts of M. barkeri grown on trimethylamine (TMA) produce methane from TMA + H2, but extracts from methanol- or dimethylamine-grown cells do not [227],... [Pg.59]

Two amicyanins from the methylotropic bacteria Pseudomonas AMI and T. versutus have been a recent focus of attention (42, 43). Their function is to mediate electron transfer between bacterial cytochrome c and methylamine dehydrogenase in a relatively short electron transport chain. [Pg.383]

N -Methylglutamine is also present in tea leaves (166), C-labelled methylamine is incorporated into N -methylglutamine in seedlings and excised shoots (164, 166, 318). The synthesis is believed to take place in the roots, and the N -methylglutamine is then supposed to be translocated to the shoots, in which most of the radioactivity is transferred into caffeine (164). However, N -methylglutamine can be degraded in excised shoots to methylamine, and may only be a storage or transport compound for methylamine (318). [Pg.257]

Packaging Industry. For transportation of machinery, components and equipment by sea, vapor phase cyclohexylamine and hexa-methylamine are used. [Pg.353]
