Gibbs and coworkers isolated methyl 2,3,6-trideoxy-2,3-epimino-a-D-allopy-ranoside (73) in 20% yield after treatment of derivative 72 with lithium aluminum hydride in tetrahydrofuran. The structure of the product was confirmed by an independent synthesis from epimine 44. [Pg.40]
