Methane unsaturated hydrocarbon reductions

The influence of electronegative additives on the CO hydrogenation reaction corresponds mainly to a reduction in the overall catalyst activity.131 This is shown for example in Fig. 2.42 which compares the steady-state methanation activities of Ni, Co, Fe and Ru catalysts relative to their fresh, unpoisoned activities as a function of gas phase H2S concentration. The distribution of the reaction products is also affected, leading to an increase in the relative amount of higher unsaturated hydrocarbons at the expense of methane formation.6 Model kinetic studies of the effect of sulfur on the methanation reaction on Ni(lOO)132,135 and Ru(OOl)133,134 at near atmospheric pressure attribute this behavior to the inhibition effect of sulfur to the dissociative adsorption rate of hydrogen but also to the drastic decrease in the... [Pg.81]

In 2007, synthesis and complexation of a PSiP-pincer hgand, in which a sihcon atom and two phosphorus atoms are tethered by a phenylene group, was first reported by Turculet and coworkers [11-19]. They reported that the PSiP-ruthenium complex exhibited catalytic activity for transfer hydrogenation of ketones [11], and the PSiP-platinum and -palladium complexes efficiently catalyzed reduction of COj to methane by silanes [18[. Shortly after the Turculefs first report in 2007, we reported the first example of utilization of the phenylene-bridged PSiP-pincer complex in carbon-carbon bond formation reactions of unsaturated hydrocarbons [20[. [Pg.229]

In general, with decreasing hydrocarbon partial pressure, unsaturated components such as acetylene, ethylene, propylene, and butadiene increase whereas BTX, pyrolysis fuel oil, and saturated components such as methane, ethane, and propane decrease. Low hydrocarbon partial pressure can be attained either by high steam dilution or by low absolute pressure in the cracking coil, which is determined by furnace outlet pressure and pressure drop in the cracking coil. For each specific case there is an optimum steam dilution. Reduction of steam dilution influences yields, utilities, running times and, in the case of a new ethylene plant, of course, investment costs—but in different ways, either positive or negative. Thus, an optimization has to be carried out to identify the most economic steam dilution. [Pg.159]

CO2 hydrogenation, ammonia synthesis, hydrogenation of unsaturated organics, methane reforming, hydrogenolysis of saturated hydrocarbons, and wet oxidation of pollutants in waste waters have been tested, the main reactions taking place in the auto-exhaust converters have received special attention. Such is the case of CO and hydrocarbon oxidations, NO reduction, steam reforming, and water-gas shift reaction. [Pg.95]
