Methane reaction + amino radicals

Biimidazole-sensitized photooxidation of lenco triphenylmethane dyes. MacLachlan, Alexander Riem, R. H. (Exp. Stan., E. I. DuPont de Nemours and Co., Wilmington, Del.). J. Org. Chem. 1971, 36(1G), 22/5-80 (Eng). Oxidn. of tris(2-methyl4-diethylamino-phenyl)methane by photogenerated 2-(o-chlorophe-nyl)4,5-diphenylimidazolyl radical (Lr) was studied by flash photolysis. An electron-exchange reaction involving L occurs at an unprotonated amino N of the... [Pg.203]

Alkylation and Arylation. The 5-methylation of thioamides by diazomethane is catalysed by silica gel. 5-Phenyl derivatives of thiobenzanilides are obtained in high yield by radical arylation with nitrosoacetanilide or phenylazotriphenyl-methane. Thiols are made from alkyl (or cycloalkyl, or aralkyl) halides by their reaction with dimethylthioformamide and treatment of the imidium ester with methanol other methods of hydrolysis lead to side-reactions, giving impure products. Mono- and bi-protic thiocarboxamides condense with ethyl bromo-cyanoacetate and one equivalent of NaOEt with spontaneous separation of sulphur and the formation of ff-amino-cr-cyano-acrylates, as shown in reaction (5). The... [Pg.183]

The biimidazole-sensitized photooxidation of leuco triphenyknethane dyes [15], specifically of tris(2-methyl-4-diethylaminophenyl) methane by photogenerated 2-(o-chlorophenyl)-4,5-diphenyl-imidazolyl radical (L ) was studied by flash photolysis. An electron-exchange reaction involving L occurs at an unprotonated amino nitrogen of the leuco dye and is responsible for the first oxidation step. Subsequent reactions do not involve the L radical and depend only on the structure of the leuco dye and environmental effects. The influence of pH on both the course and rate of the dye-forming reaction was investigated. [Pg.69]
