Extruders are devices for loading by extrusion (qv) metals, plastics, expls and pyrotechnic compositions. Sartorius concluded that for the same percent addition, the specific work increase (power) to be expected from the use of Si in expls was 1/2 to 2/3 that of Al. Sartorius also derived a thermodynamic equation to predict the percentage increase in Pb block value produced by a 1% addition of any metal to an e.xp that is slightly oxygen deficient with a potential Q of 1000 cal/g ... [Pg.326]
