Mercury active methylene

The photocatalytic activity of nano-Ti02 can be investigated spectroscopically by following the degradation of methylene blue with time. About 0.2 ml of methylene blue is added to 3 ml of a titania suspension (0.0015 wt% TiOi). The sample is then irradiated by a mercury lamp. In this case, the differential absorbance at 660 nm measured with a UVA is spectrophotometer showed complete degradation of the dye within 10 min at room temperature (Figure 6.8), making nano-TiOi an important photocatalyst. [Pg.237]
