Medicago media

The profile of the incorporation of from acetate into medicagenic acid (102) in Medicago media suggested that it is the first saponin synthesized in the germinating seeds. 

The present study examines and compares the effects of NaCl in the growth medium and reaction mixture on the ATPase activity in chloroplast (CFl) and mitochondria (FI) and the electron transport in photosystems (PSI,PSII) and respiratory chain from two species with different salt tolerance, Amaranthus hypochondriacus and Medicago sativa. 

The present findings suggest that a qualitative difference in the responses to NaCl exist between the mitochondrial ATPase in Amaranthus and Medicago. The addition of NaCl to the growth medium resulted in the stimulation of ATP ase activity of Medicago, but induced an inhibition of this activity in Amaranthus. 

BAHD acyltransferases include CmAAT4 from Charentais melon that catalyzes the formation of volatile medium-chain aUphatic esters, HMT/ HLT, a tigloyltransferase crucial for the biosynthesis of quinolizidine alkaloids in Lupinus albus [117], and MtMatl-3, which catalyze the malonylation of the sugar residue on isoflavone 7-O-glucosides in Medicago truncatula [118] (Fig. 6). 

When Nad concentration in the culture medium was increased, changes in the enzymic activities of Medicago cotyledons occured. The CAT maximum activity was delayed of one day every time when NaCl concentration in creased of 2g/l. The maximum value of CAT activity was not affected at the concentration of 2g/l NaCl but it decreased from 4g/l. Then the important decrease of activity observed in the control after reaching the peack was sharply attenuated. In treated cotyledons by 8g/l of NaCl, the maximal activity was reached the 6 ...
