McFarland, William

James McFarland (to William Purcell) There is an air of mysticism in the use of molecular orbital parameters. Do you feel that these parameters relate to biological processes that we are already familiar with or do they perhaps relate to something we don t yet understand about how drugs act If it is the former, would you elaborate on how we might interpret successful correlations with such terms as highest occupied molecular orbital, lowest unoccupied molecular orbital, and frontier orbital ... [Pg.196]

That is, the related nr/z valnes from an eluting protonated protein (i.e., [M+nH]"+) are converted to a single mass valne for the neutral intact protein (i.e., M) (McFarland et al. 2014 Williams et al. 2002). The resrrlting mass profiles for each 30 s window are combined into a single profile showing peak intensity and mass of the protein (retention time irrformation is also preserved during this data analysis, but not plotted). This irrtact protein expression profile is easy to interpret, since it represents all of the proteirrs detected in the sample. [Pg.35]
