Figure 2-10 shows how liquid appears when it is at the center of the mark of a volumetric flask or a pipet. Adjust the liquid level while viewing the flask from above or below the level of the mark. The front and back of the mark describe an ellipse with the meniscus at the center. 

The ignition temperature marks the front of the flame zone, here represented by the thickness 5/. Up to this point the reaction rate, though relatively fast, is not self-accelerating. Past this point the rate of heat... 

One can remove the slide, quickly mark the front before the solvent evaporates, and calculate the Rf value. The Rf value is the ratio of the distance the spot travels from the point of origin to the distance the solvent travels (Fig. 1). 

In the advanced state of delamination, two zones of different activity can be located underneath the organic coating. The shift of the corrosion potential close to the rather anodic potential of the intact interface marks the front of the advancing cathode. Behind this cathodic area the steep slope marks the front of anodic undermining. Fiirbeth and Stratmann proved this interpretation of the SKP data with cross-sectional and surface analysis of the delaminated area [86]. 

Next day, hang the paper from the edge of the fume-cupboard window in the full draught of the fan to dry, and immediately mark the position of the solvent front. 

On the baseline, start at the left end and mark the stationary back-foot. From the back-foot and moving right, count the number of squares along the baseline corresponding to FFS. Mark the stationary front-foot location. 

Procedure. Pour the developing solvent into the chromatographic tank to a depth of about 0.5 cm and replace the lid. Take a prepared plate and carefully spot 5 pL of each indicator on the origin line (see Section 8.6, under Sample application) using a micropipette. Allow to dry, slide the plate into the tank and develop the chromatogram by the ascending solvent for about 1 h. Remove the plate, mark the solvent front and dry the plate in an oven at 60 °C for about 15 min. Evaluate the R value for each of the indicators using the equation...

The difference is that Mark s here, behind me, tall and warm as he follows me into the house, his voice filling the emptiness and his hands dealing competently with bag and baggage his by the front door, mine at the foot of the stairs. 

To mark the displacement front, 150 ppm of sodium iodide was incorporated in the surfactant micellar slug. This tracer can easily be detected in effluents with a UV detector at 229 nm. 

Turn the stirrer knob so that the mark on the knob is about half of the way between the SLOW and FAST markings on the front panel. That s just a suggestion. I don t have any compelling reasons for it. 

After 2 to 3 h (the longer the better), remove the paper, quickly mark the solvent front with a pencil, and hang the paper in a fume hood to dry. After drying for 5 to 10 min, spray the developed portion with ninhydrin solution (0.1% ninhydrin in butanol or isopropyl alcohol). Allow to dry for 10 min. Then place it in a drying oven at 100°C for 5 min. Amino acid spots will be violet to blue in color. 

Back in Vienna, Mark spent the Christmas of 1914 healing at home. But rest and relaxation for this soldier took an unusual form, for during this break he began his study of chemistry at the University of Vienna. He completed one of the eight required semesters of study, and then returned with his regiment to the front. This time they were sent to the more familiar but no longer hospitable mountains along the Austrian-Italian border. 

Mark returned to the front during the fall, but his sacrifices were in vain. The Austrian front collasped in November, 1918, and Mark, now the most decorated company-grade officer in the Austrian Army, was imprisoned by the Italians. 

Clinically she had a fixed stare and swelling at the front of the neck (goitre). The diagnosis of thyrotoxicosis was confirmed by the results of a blood test which showed an undetectable concentration of TSH but markedly raised T3 result. The very low TSH is due to a normal negative feedback response to the raised tri-iodothyronine concentration. 

Amoxicillin was prescribed and dispensed to a patient with a Penicillin allergy. The front of the chart was not marked for an allergy and the problem list showing the allergy was covered with a misfiled document. The pharmacy software program does not screen for allergies and the pharmacy profile was not marked with any allergies.
