Ciudad Juarez is the home of the first Maquiladora plants. Approximately 600,000 Maquiladora trucks cross the border between El Paso, Texas, and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, each year. [Pg.16]

One Johnson and Johnson Medical Inc. plant in Juarez, a surgical garment production facility, has about 1,800 employees and is ISO and EN 46002 certified (European certification for quality in manufacturing and quality in medical device production). It is the first Maquiladora plant to win the National Quality Award. As of March 1995, it had set a record 2,000 hours of no labor loss due to injury. [Pg.18]
