Mannitol salt agar

There are two points to note methicillin is no longer available in the UK so testing for MRSA is now carried out using oxacillin and the standard test against which the rapid assay was compared was different to that in the earlier trial where swabs from transport media were streaked directly onto agar containing methicillin, salt, mannitol and a pH indicator.
