Manganese cyano complexes

The most important low-spin octahedral complex of Mn is the dark-red cyano complex, [Mn(CN)6] , which is produced when air is bubbled through an aqueous solution of Mn and CN . [MnXs] (X = F, Cl) are also known the chloro ion, at least when combined with the cation [bipyH2] +, is notable as an example of a square pyramidal manganese complex.

The kinetics and mechanism of oxygen transfer in the reaction of p-cyano-N,N-dimethylaniline N-oxide with the manganese(III) complex of the me50-tetrakis(2,6-dimethylphenyl)porphinato dianion have been investigated in the presence of imidazole.From the dependence of the pseudo first-order rate constants upon [ImH], and a knowledge of the equilibrium constants for imidazole ligation, second-order rate constants of = 3.3 x 10 s 2 = 5.53 s and —... 

The ionic alkali metal or ammonium salts of 1,2,3-(OHC)3H2Cs and l,2,3-/l,2,4-(NC)3H2Cj as well as (NC)4HC5 and (NC)5Cj are known (28,29). Furthermore, ionic N-bonded manganese, rhenium, and iron tri-cyano- and pentacyano-Cp s (30) as well as silver tricyanocyclopentadien-ides have been mentioned (28). However, we are not aware of tr-bonded (or pentahapto) metal complexes with these systems. 

Manganates, hexachloro-, 58 Manganates, tetraalkyl-, 13 Manganates, tetrahalo-, 59 Manganates, tetraoxo-, 109 Manganates, trihalo-, 59 Manganese complexes, 1-111 carbonyl-nitrosyl, 7 cyano-nitrosyl. 8 electronic spectra, 4 lability, 6... 

Additional support for the Mn specificity of native B. ammoniagenes ribonucleotide reductase is provided by its inhibition by cyanide (Fig. 5). The iron- and B 12-enzymes are not affected by cyanide which forms cyano and cyanoaquo complexes with Mn" but not with Fe or Fe" " " under typical enzyme assay conditions at ambient temperature. We thus believe that manganese in the Brevibacterium enzyme system is the functional, catalytic counterpart of iron found in E. coli and eukaryotic ribonucleotide reductases. The nature of Mn -protein interaction remains to be studied after further purification.
