Short differences in the mandrel lengths are compensated in the press shown in Fig. 88, by appropriate spacers. If, however, high-tensile billets of short length are extruded which call for a considerable reduction in the length of the mandrel, it is simpler to provide the piercer rod with an adjusting device. It comprises a spindle 71 and a nut o being rotated in the piercer crosshead by spur-w heel drive p. The pinion is rotated with the help of a detachable crank. [Pg.101]
