Two more cases of malignant melanoma are reported in patients taking levodopa. Another patient in whom a malignant melanoma had been excised 7 years before the start of treatment had a recurrence after 2 years on levodopa (57 ). Urinary retention developed in a 49-year-old man who was taking levodopa for bilateral parkinsonism. Substitution by carbidopa-levodopa therapy did not alleviate the symptoms but the condition, which was associated with a hypertonic bladder, was relieved by the addition of phenoxybenzamine 10 mg 3 times daily to levodopa therapy (58 ). [Pg.120]
