Maleic anhydride recipe

The production of DCPD-based UP resins follows various different routes using different recipes and process conditions. There are two main routes for the manufacture of DCPD resins. The first and most important route is end-capping of the polymer backbone with DCPD. This chemistry is based upon hydrolysis of maleic anhydride into maleic acid, and the addition of DCPD to maleic acid. This end-capping reaction results in lower molecular weight and lower viscosity resins. [Pg.112]

Polyolefin resins are non-polar in nature. Hence, SGFR composites require a combination of suitable glass fiber sizing recipes and added chemical coupling promoter to enhance stress transfer necessary for strength and rigidity. This promoter is bifunctional in nature with grafted monomer on the polymer backbone. A number of monomers are typically used to functionalize polyolefin resins, e.g. acrylic acid, maleic anhydride, fumaric acid and himic anhydride. [Pg.230]

Anhydrides.—A route to symmetrical maleic anhydrides has been described involving the coupling of a-bromoesters using calcium amide in liquid ammonia to aiford mixtures of fumaric and maleic esters. Treatment with sulphuric acid provides the anhydrides in a wide lange of yields. Improved recipes for the preparation of 1,2-naphthalic anhydride (21) have been presented. ... [Pg.115]
