In China, plastics production is dominated by the affiliates of Sinopec. The total output of polyethylene is estimated at 4.8 million tonnes in 2003, including 1.2 million tonnes of low density polyethylene (LDPE), 2.3 million tonnes of linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) and 1.3 million tonnes of high density polyethylene (HDPE). Polypropylene is estimated at 4.8 million tonnes, while Polyvinyl chloride and polystyrene are at 3.6 million and 1.5 million tonnes.
