Magnetic anisotropy, magnetostriction

Oriented In-Plane Texture. In this kind of film the properties (H and in the various in-plane directions (texture and nontexture directions) are different. The texture of the film can be supported by the texture of the substrate and the crystal lattice can be smaller in the texture direction than in the transverse direction. This can be the source for strain-induced magnetic anisotropy (magnetostriction). It is also found that the crystal is aligned in the texture direction (92). [Pg.184]

Szymczak (1997, 1999) has stressed the possibility to distinguish between pure interface effects, i.e. surface magnetostriction, and the effects of an interface diffusion layer. Since magnetic anisotropy and magnetostriction have the same origin, the surface magnetostriction is expected to have an intrinsic character. In Szymczak s notation (Voigt... [Pg.152]

It should be noted that two phenomena that are important for the theory of magnetism and that are relevant to the present discussions are not treated at all. These phenomena are magnetic anisotropy and magnetostriction. Also there is no discussion of the rare earth and actinide metals or compounds, for which much of the present discussion serves as a necessary introduction. [Pg.73]

With sufficiently accurate methods for calculating the magnetic anisotropy energies it should also be possible to treat magnetostriction phenomena in... [Pg.905]
