Magnesium hydrolysis constant

The chloride concentration was maintained at 3moll , while the magnesium concentration was varied between 1.0 and 1.5 mol 1 . The potentiometric data obtained by Lewis (1963) were described by the formation of MgOH" (or Mg20H " ) and Mg4(OH)4. This study accepts the data for the formation of MgOH" rather than Mg20H ", due to the consistency of the former with subsequent studies on magnesium hydrolysis in chloride media (Palmer and Wesolowski, 1997). The stability constants derived by Lewis (1963) are accepted in the present study but are corrected to the molal scale. [Pg.191]

Beyond the effect of magnesium ion concentration on the equilibrium hydrolysis of adenosine triphosphate to adenosine diphosphate , there is ample evidence that MgATP is generally the most widespread substrate in kinase-type phosphotransferase reactions as well as other ATP-dependent processes. The extent to which MgATP is formed in solution depends on the free (or uncomplexed) magnesium ion concentration, as shown by the following equilibrium constant ... [Pg.437]

A variety of other olefins were studied 1,6-diphenylhexatriene, anthracene and cyclooc-tatetraene also displace butadiene from its polymeric magnesium complex. Now should these olefin-magnesium species be viewed as magnesacycles Or as contact ion pairs with olefin dianions In any case, no enthalpies of hydrolysis are available, nor quantitation of stabilities by even equilibrium constants. We welcome this information. [Pg.121]

In order to study the effects of pH and pMg on the apparent equilibrium constant for the hydrolysis of ATP to ADP, the binding polynomials with magnesium terms for ADP and Pj are needed. [Pg.37]

The experiments were usually performed in hydrocarbons at 80 °C. The ethylene reacted immediately and was consumed constant until the alkyl chain of the dialkyl magnesium compounds grew too long and the products began to precipitate. The treatment of the P-Mg-P1 compounds with C02 followed by hydrolysis gave acids with odd carbon chain lenghts of between 5 and 13 C atoms (FAB+-MS, m/z 101—213).915,915a 916 Direct alkylation of the... [Pg.141]

Beryllium. The hydrolysis of beryllium(II) and its complexation by oxalate, malonate, and succinate have been studied using Be NMR spectroscopy. Magnesium. The equilibrium constant for pyridine disaggregation of magnesium porphyrins has been determined using H and C NMR spectroscopy. Mg... [Pg.58]

Burkov et al. (1978) also studied the hydrolysis of the magnesium(II) ion from 25 to 140 C in 3 mol 1 NaClO. These authors determined the stability constant for MgOH" " across this temperature range and found that log was a linear function of the reciprocal of absolute temperature across the whole temperature range. [Pg.181]
