MacFarlan s history as an apothecary supplier can be traced back to 1780. In 1815, John Fletcher MacFarlan, licentiate of the Royal College of Surgeons, became owner ofthe family business and began to manufacture laudanum. Since 1832, the company was able to produce chemically pure morphine as its acetate and hydrochloride. [90]...
