POPLAR Populus tremuloides, Michx., family Salicaccac, gives the drug Populi tremula cortex, poplar bark. [Pg.98]

The bark contains salicin (2—4%), sahcortin, salireposide and benzoate derivatives popnlin (salicin-6-benzoate), [Pg.98]

Poplar has antirheumatic and antiinflammatory, antiseptic, astringent properties and has been used for muscular rheumatism, cystitis, common cold and specifically rheumatoid arthritis. Populi nipiraegemmae and Populi tremulae pemmae are the buds of these two Populus species. They are used as expectorants and circulatory stimulants for the treatment of upper respiratory tract infections and rheumatic conditions. [Pg.98]

WILLOW Solids albae cortex is obtained from Salix Mu L. The bark can also be obtained from Salix fragilis L., Salix pentandra L. and Salix purpurea L., belonging to the family Salicaceae. The constituents are qualitatively [Pg.98]
