Skin L)Tal was created and introduced in 1960 by the International Flavors and Fragrances Company. It is an aromatic chemical that is formed through the reaction of myrcenol with acrolein and it is found with high frequency in fragrances and deodorants. Repeated exposure may be required for eventual sensitization. It is estimated to have a reactivity rate of 2.7% in the general population. Contact dermatitis has been reported in a 65-year-old man with recurrent axillary dermatitis, who had a -I—f reaction to Lyral 5% in petrolatum Lyral was found in his deodorant.
