Volume 39 of Advances in Heterocyclic Chemistry encompasses six chapters. Of these, two are updates of previously treated subjects. Thus, J. G. Keay in his survey of the reductions of heterocycles by complex hydrides has updated the chapter by P. S. Anderson and R. E. Lyle which appeared in Volume 6 of this series. Some of the most recent aspects of the mass spectra of heterocycles are summarized by J. R. J. Pare and co-workers this subject was previously treated in Volume 7.
