There are two major producers of SAN resin in the United States, Monsanto Chemical Company and The Dow Chemical Company, which market these materials under the names of Lustran and Tydl, respectively. Some typical physical properties of these have been shown in Table 1. Production figures for SAN and ABS for the 1980s are shown in Table 6 (148). 

ABS is the sixth largest volume thermoplastic resin and the principal engineering (stmctural or load bearing) plastic (89). ABS is a terpolymer manufactured by copolymerizing acrylonitrile and styrene in the presence of polybutadiene mbber.
