Long-chain branching extrusion

Nam GJ, Yoo JH, Lee JW (2005) Effect of long-chain branches of polypropylene on rheological properties and foam-extrusion performances. J Appl Polym Sci 96 1793-1800... [Pg.248]

The dynamic cross-linking process is used to produce thermoplastic elastomers from mixtures of crystallizable polyolefins and various rubbers. Variations of basically the same method are employed to produce novel, stable polymer alloys by performing chemical reactions during extrusion of such mixtures. In that case, the cunent industrial term is reactive extrusion. Such processes are used, for example, to improve processability of LLDPE s into tubular film (by introducing long chain branches during extrusion with low levels of peroxides) or to... [Pg.470]

Looking forward, continued substitution of LLDPE and HDPE for LDPE will take place. As older film extrusion equipment is replaced or retrofitted to handle LLDPE, the consiunption of LDPE will decrease. The two attributes of LDPE which, as of today, have not been satisfactorily met with LLDPE are the long-chain branching and the flexibility and properties of polar comonomer... [Pg.2887]

Also for extrusion purposes long-chain branching has a particularly positive effect (40) it increases extrusion speed and the resistance against collapse the tendency of extruded profiles of complicated shapes to deform under the influence of gravity between the extruder and the vulcanization line. [Pg.2973]

The LED PE resin that was hydrogenated to eliminate rmsaturation did not crosslink under extrusion conditions, while the LLDPE that contained some vinyl unsaturation did undergo some crosslinking as indicated by a decrease in the vinyl concentration. A C-NMR study showed that the decrease in vinyl concentration was accompanied by the formation of long-chain branching (LCB). [Pg.315]
