The amount of water adsorbed onto studied carbons from air is small, i.e., they are rather hydro-phobic (due to low amounts of oxygen-containing groups and the hydrophobicity of the basal planes) than hydrophilic adsorbents since adsorbed water fills only 3%-6% of the pore volume. Notice that the adsorption of water from air onto hydrophilic porous silica gels is much higher (water fills a major portion of the pore volume Chapter 1) than on the studied carbons. [Pg.480]
