Lobelia spp

Lobeline, the chief alkaloid of Lobelia inflata and other Lobelia spp. has a nicotinelike action and has had limited use as a respiratory stimulant... [Pg.521]

Pyridine Group. Piperine, Piperovatine, Leucenol, Mimosine, Alkaloids of Ricinus communis, Foenugrec, vy eca Nut, Hemlock, Lobelia, Tobacco (Nicotiana spp.). Anabasis aphylla, Pomegranate Root Bark. ... [Pg.809]

In addition to lupines, poison-hemlock and Nicotiana spp., other plant species of the genera Genista, Prosopis, Lobelia, Cytisus, Sophora, Pinus, Punica, Duboisia, Sedum, Withania, Carica, Hydrangea, Dichroa, Cassia, Ammondendron, Liparia, and Colidium contain potentially toxic and teratogenic piperidine alkaloids. Many plant species or varieties from these genera may be included in animal and human diets (Keeler and Crowe, 1984). [Pg.26]

The effect of nitrogenous fertilizers upon the alkaloid assay is not quite so obvious, and the earlier results appeared contradictory. Reductions of assay were reported for Lobelia (133), and no significant change for Datura stramonium (120, 126) and Aconitum spp. (128). Various workers reported no change or small increases for Atropa belladonna (134,135, 136, 137) and Hyoscyamus niger (126). [Pg.70]

OL-Lobeline. Inflatine. Other proprietary names Alkaloid from Lobelia inflata L. nicotianaefolia, L. hassleri, L. stallfeldii and several other L. spp. Also isol. from seeds of Campanula medium (Campanulaceae). [Pg.641]
