Lithium salicylate

Lithium salicylate [552-38-5] M 144.1. Crystd from EtOH (2mL/g) by partial evaporation. 

Forced diuresis is occasionally useful. It may cause volume overload or electrolyte disturbances. Forced diuresis is useful for phenobarbital, bromides, lithium, salicylate, or amphetamines overdoses. Do not use for tricyclic antidepressants, sedative-hypnotics, or highly protein-bound medications. The most common agents employed are furosemide and osmotic diuretics with mannitol.

In order to facihtate the MALDI-MS analysis of hydrocarbons and wax esters, the use of lithium 2,5-dihydroxybenzoate (Li-DHB) as matrix has been proposed [140]. This matrix proved strccessful in the analysis of C24- to C Q-hydrocarbons, di- and triglycerides, wax esters, and PEGs [M+Li]+-iorts are observed for these analytes. Subsequently, it has been shown that salts of other organic aromatic acids (lithirrm benzoate, lithium salicylate, hthirrm vanillate, lithirrm 2,5-dimethoxyben-zoate, hthirrm 2,5-dihydrojgrterephthalate, hthirrm a-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamate, and hthirrm sinapate) as MALDI matrices as alternative to Li-DHB provided up to 9 X -improved signals [141].
