Liquid crystal microthermography

Direct thermal techniques, which include fiber-optic thermometry, theta-JC testing, infrared thermal imaging, and liquid crystal microthermography, either give a direct temperature measurement or a thermal resistance. 

The liquid crystal microthermography method of temperature measurement requires that the surface of the DLJT be exposed. Therefore, this technique cannot be used on sealed or encapsulated devices without deprocessing.
