Low levels of resistance to abamectin (1.7- to 1.8-fold) and lindane (0.8-fold) were observed in the tested US head lice (14) (Table 1). Because dexamediasone pretreatment protects lice firom abamectin toxicity (data not shown), a 3 -(7-demetiiylation of abamectin may function as a possible resistance mechanism (IT). [Pg.386]

In both fresh and salt waters, lindane has demonstrated high stability. It is resistant to photodegradation but will disappear from the water by secondary mechanisms such as adsorption on sediment, biological breakdown by microflora and fauna, and adsorption by fish through gills, skin, and food. [Pg.1537]
