Linalyl acetate clary sage

Linalyl acetate is the principal constituent of the essential oils of bergamot, clary sage, lavender and lavandin. It is also present in the essential oils of Salvia officinalis, petitgrain, sassafras, neroli, lemon, lime, a few Mentha species and others. [Pg.171]

Optically pure (3i )(—)-linalyl acetate was detected in the oils of clary sage Salvia sclarea). Salvia dominica, lavender and lavandin using H-NMR spectroscopy with a chiral lanthanide shift reagent, Eu(hfc)3. This enantiomer was also detected in the oils of lavender, lavandin and bergamot using complexation gas chromatography on Ni(hfc) 2, and... [Pg.171]

Alteration of essential-oil components during distillation can be recognized by comparing the oils obtained by steam distillation and by SFE. The hydrolysis of esters (like linalyl acetate) to the corresponding alcohols was observed in clary sage oils. The hydrolysis of thymol bound in glycosides resulted in different thymol concentrations in distilled thyme oils, which was proved by appropriate treatments (acidic and enzymatic) of the previously CO2-extracted plant material. [Pg.549]

Linalyl acetate (3,7-dimethyl-1,6-octadien-3-yl acetate) Found in essential oils of bergamot, lavender, lavandin, spike lavender, Clary sage, neroli and petitgrain. Floral, fruity, sweet and herbaceous odour. [Pg.71]

ISO standard 4733 shows character and data for that oil. This oil is produced mainly in India, Sri Lanka, and Guatemala. Adulteration is done by 1,8-cineole from eucalyptus or camphor oil, a-terpinyl acetate, and linalool. The adding of 1,8-cineole is hard to be discovered linalool ratio is reported by Dugo (1996) and Casablanca (2011) to be between 7% of (/ )-( ) linalool to 93% of (5)-(+)-linalool and 100.0% (R)-(-)-linalyl acetate to 0.0% (5) -(+) linalyl acetate. The presence of 6-terpinyl acetate seems to show adulteration as to nowadays it is only detected in clary sage oil. 6-Terpinyl acetate is a side product in synthetic terpinyl acetate. [Pg.729]
