Lighting luminaire types

A set of tables, based on this formula, has been produced by the Society of Light and Lighting for a range of situations, types of luminaire, etc., and these should be referred to for specific advice. Figures above the recommended levels for a given location may lead to visual discomfort. 

The extent of the maintenance required will depend upon the size and type of lighting installation and the installed conditions - for example, whether the environment is dusty or clean. However, lamps and luminaires will need cleaning, and lamps will need to be replaced. They can be replaced either by spot replacement or group replacement .
