In 2004, Chanishvili et al. investigated the light-induced effect in cholesteric mixtures composed of azobenzene or azoxybenzene nematic host and chiral dopants [31]. The transition from cholesteric to isotropic state was observed in the photoisomerization of host molecules upon UV irradiation.
