Light-emitting fabrics samples

A sensor has been fabricated using a membrane, permeable to the species of interest, to form a celi in which a reference solution was contained and the end of a fiber bundle immersed in it [53], The solution contained species becomes chemiluminescent when it reacts with the species to be detected. Light emitted by this reaction is coliected by the fiber bundle and analyzed on a spectrometer. By immersing the cell into fluid to be sampled, the species of interest is transported across the membrane and its concentration in the sample fluid may be determined. This device is claimed to be capable of measuring concentrations as low as about 1 urn, with a dynamic range of 5-40 jxm. Sampling times are claimed to be on the order of 10 s. [Pg.198]
