Smart ligand

The analogous phenomenon was first reported by Bergbreiter etal. [17, 18]. In the presence of phosphorus-bonded block copolymers of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide as ligands ( smart ligands ), rhodium-catalyzed hydrogenation of maleic acid or allyl alcohol in the aqueous phase would show the same anti-Arrhenius reactivity. 

One essential aspect of the pubhcly funded project Smart Solvents/Smart Ligands was the development of new and useable techniques for the isolation and reuse of organometallic catalysts. The work of Leitner and Dinjus shows various possibilities for the immobilization of modified and conventional catalytic systems. 

In particular the recent investigation as part of the project Smart Sol-vents/Smart ligands of the SLPC with PEG and ionic Hquids ( SILP ) as the catalyst carrier opened up new possibihties for the immobihzation of homogeneous catalysts. By increasing the stabihty of the catalytic performance, this concept may have the potential to be kept in mind for industrial catalysis in combination with environmentally benign supercritical or compressed carbon dioxide. In addition, this methodology is able to provide access to some chemical applications and processes because of the easy and facile preparation of the coated materials. 

The investigations done by Claus and coworkers as part of the project Smart Solvents/Smart Ligands focussed on the selective hydrogenation of Q ,/3-unsaturated carbonyl compounds and showed the potential of aqueous multiphasic catalysis for the production of chemicals for fine chemistry, e.g., fragrance materials.

Abstract The present contribution highlights the relationship between SCCO2 properties, its solubilization power, and its use as a reaction medium for homogeneous catalysis. Current research activities under the lighthouse project Smart Solvents, Smart Ligands are presented, the focus being on criteria of conducting catalyzed processes in future applications. 

The area of (chiral) MO-oligodentate ligand synthesis - see, for example, the known Structures 4-6 - also merits future attention. Smart ideas are required because these ligands become more and more sophisticated [34]. Logically, yV/(9-ligands are more resistant to oxidation than phosphines, one of the reasons...
