Ligands Containing S and O Donor Atoms

The IR spectra of [(bipy)ML2]Cl2, where L = imidazolidine-2-thione or 1,3-diazirane-2-thione, M = Ni, Pd or Pt, all show 5-coordination of L.  

IR results for a polymeric copper mixed-valence compound with a bridging 2-thioiso-orotato ligand show that the latter is coordinated through both carboxy-lato O atoms and the sulfur atom. The polymeric species [ Ag(pts) py]n, where pts = p-toluenesulfonate, shows IR bands due to both bidentate chelating and bridging sulfonato groups.  

The IR spectra of Ln(PMBP)2(N03)X2, where Ln = La, Eu or Lu, HPMBP= l-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoylpyrazol-5-one, X = sulfoxide donors, show that X coordinates through the oxygen atom in all cases.
