The complex (197) with a dithiocarboxylate ligand coordinated to platinum(II) bonded through both monodentate carbon and die chelating dithiocarboxylate ligand has been prepared from either the thiocarbonyl platinum(II) precursor or the carbon disulfide adduct of platinum(O).1796,1797 A cyclopentadienyl-substituted dithiocarboxylate ligand (198) can be used to prepared S,S-bonded platinum(II) and (IV) complexes Pt(C5H4CS2)2 and PtfCsKtCS 2-. The complexes show v(PtS) at 340 cm-1, and in each case electronic absorption bands of the Pt— L type are at 19 500 cm-1 and 29 500 cm-1.1798... 

A major class of sulfur-containing ligands is obtained by the general reaction of carbon disulfide with various nucleophiles. These ligands can be classified into two categories the uninegative 1,1-dithioacids and the dinegativc 1,1-dithiolates (Fig. 1). 

The reaction of carbon disulfide with various nucleophiles such as NR2, CR3, OR", and SR gives rise to the general class of 1,1-dithio ligands of the general formula "S2C-X. These ligands have been discussed up to 1969 in a previous review (153). Since then various new reactions of CS2 and nucleophiles and new 1,1-dithio ligands have appeared. 

A variety of other reactions of carbon disulfide with nucleophiles are presented in a review (252). In the last 10 years a number of new 1,1-dithio ligands have been synthesized, and the chemistry of others has been explored in detail.

The aromatic character of the dibenzo derivative 2 has also been calculated. Studies on the behavior of the deep red anion 3, as a potential IOji heteroaromatic system, were described previously <1996CHEC-II(9)268>. H NMR spectra (NMR - nuclear magnetic resonance) of l,3-dithiepin-2-carbodithiolate 4, a ligand obtained from the reaction of carbon disulfide with the lithium salt of 1,3-dithiepin, as well as its palladium salt suggest a good deal of Hiickel aromatic character in the seven-membered dithiepin ring <1991ICA(185)169>.
