Mellon D, Tuten HR, Redick J (1989) Distribution of radioactive leucine following uptake by olfactory sensory neurons in normal and heteromorphic crayfish antennules. J Comp Neurol 280 645-662... [Pg.145]

A likely exit path for the xenon was identified as follows. Different members of our research group placed the exit path in the same location and were able to control extraction of the xenon atom with the tug feature of the steered dynamics system without causing exaggerated perturbations of the structure. The exit path is located between the side chains of leucines 84 and 118 and of valine 87 the flexible side chain of lysine 83 lies just outside the exit and part of the time is an obstacle to a linear extraction (Fig. 1). [Pg.142]

N-Benzoyl L-leucylglyclne ethyl ester (3). N-Benzoy-L-leucine 1 (0.235 g, 1 mmol) and glycine ethyl ester hydrochloride 2 (0 1534 g, 1.1 mmol) in OMF (10 mL) under stirring vyas treated with diethylphosphoryl cyanide 3 (0.179 g, 1.1 mmol) In OMF at 0°C, followed by the addition of triethylamine (0.212 g, 2 1 mmoO. The mixture was stirred for 30 min at 0°C and 4 h at 20 C The reaction mixture was diluted with PhH-EtOAc, washed with 5% HCI, water, 5% NaHCOs solution and bnne. Evaporation of the solvent gave crude 4 which after sIDca gel chromatography afforded 0.271 g of 4 (66%) (pure L), mp 1S8-160°C. [Pg.430]

Meyers has demonstrated that chiral oxazolines derived from valine or rert-leucine are also effective auxiliaries for asymmetric additions to naphthalene. These chiral oxazolines (39 and 40) are more readily available than the methoxymethyl substituted compounds (3) described above but provide comparable yields and stereoselectivities in the tandem alkylation reactions. For example, addition of -butyllithium to naphthyl oxazoline 39 followed by treatment of the resulting anion with iodomethane afforded 41 in 99% yield as a 99 1 mixture of diastereomers. The identical transformation of valine derived substrate 40 led to a 97% yield of 42 with 94% de. As described above, sequential treatment of the oxazoline products 41 and 42 with MeOTf, NaBKi and aqueous oxalic acid afforded aldehydes 43 in > 98% ee and 90% ee, respectively. These experiments demonstrate that a chelating (methoxymethyl) group is not necessary for reactions to proceed with high asymmetric induction. [Pg.242]

The purpose of this study is only intended to illustrate and evaluate the decision tree approach for CSP prediction using as attributes the 166 molecular keys publicly available in ISIS. This assay was carried out a CHIRBASE file of 3000 molecular structures corresponding to a list of samples resolved with an a value superior to 1.8. For each solute, we have picked in CHIRBASE the traded CSP providing the highest enantioselectivity. This procedure leads to a total selection of 18 CSPs commercially available under the following names Chiralpak AD [28], Chiral-AGP [40], Chiralpak AS [28], Resolvosil BSA-7 [41], Chiral-CBH [40], CTA-I (microcrystalline cellulose triacetate) [42], Chirobiotic T [43], Crownpak CR(-i-) [28], Cyclobond I [43], DNB-Leucine covalent [29], DNB-Phenylglycine covalent [29], Chiralcel OB [28], Chiralcel OD [28], Chiralcel OJ [28], Chiralpak OT(-i-) [28], Ultron-ES-OVM [44], Whelk-0 1 [29], (/ ,/ )-(3-Gem 1 [29]. [Pg.120]

Amino acids can also be prepared by a two-step sequence that involves Hell— Volhard-Zelinskii reaction of a carboxylic acid followed by treatment with ammonia. Show how you would prepare leucine, (C bCHCl-HClKNPfylCC H, and identify the mechanism of the second step. [Pg.876]

Leucine, one of the twenty amino acids found in proteins, is metabolized by a pathway that includes the following step. Propose a mechanism. [Pg.911]

The amino acid leucine is biosynthesized from a-ketoisovalerate by the following sequence of steps. Show the mechanism of each. [Pg.913]

On complete hydrolysis, a polypeptide gives two alanine, one leucine, one methionine, one phenylalanine, and one valine residue. Partial hydrolysis gives the following fragments Ala-Phe, Leu-Met, Val-Ala, Phe-Leu. It is known that the first amino acid in the sequence is valine and the last one is methionine. What is the complete sequence of amino acids ... [Pg.632]
