Only Felix Leiter, the CIA agent who is Bond s best friend in the series until he gets taken out of service by a shark in Live and Let Die, remains faithful to drinking the Bond martini. But then, that s what best friends are for—they, at least, remember why everyone s supposed to like you. 

Pussy informs Felix Leiter of Goldfinger s plan, thus insuring that someone is there to deactivate the bomb and as the pilot of the depressurized plane in the film s final moments, it is undoubtedly Pussy who deploys the parachute which saves Bond and her from crashing into the sea. Dr. No, after several months delay, finally went into production. Joseph Wiseman had remained with the project as Dr. No, but others had been replaced. Jack Lord had to leave the project to work on his own television series, Stoney Burke, which aired in 1962. Burt Reynolds stepped in to play the part of CIA agent Felix Leiter. Actress Senta Berger was cast as Honey Ryder, and thanks to the remarkable talents of several other excellent character actors, confidence in the film ran high.
