Optometrists who commit an act that is outside the scope of licensure are subject to discipline by the state board of optometry. Disciplinary measures that the board may use include reprimand, suspension of licensure, and revocation of licensure. Boards may also seek injunctions against continuation of the prohibited activity or may enter into consent agreements in which the defendant optometrist agrees not to continue the proscribed conduct.
