Soxhlet apparatus, leaching with

Leaching with Soxhlet Apparatus. A Soxhlet leaching apparatus has been used extensively( ) in radioactive waste measurements. The sample is contacted with continuously replenished distilled water. Leaching rates have been shown to be inhibited by ions previously leached from the solid material( ). This technique eliminates interference from ions in solution. [Pg.119]

Ultrasound-assisted extraction (USE) is an effective method for leaching many analytes from different kinds of samples [52-55]. It is simple, fast, efficient, and inexpensive in comparison with conventional extraction techniques such as solvent extraction in the Soxhlet apparatus. Ultrasound-assisted solid-liquid extraction is an effective and time-saving extraction method. Sonication accelerates the mass-transfer process between two phases. Use of ultrasound results in a reduction in operating temperature, allowing the extraction of temperature-sensitive components. The ultrasound apparatus is cheaper and its operation is easier in comparison with other novel extraction techniques such as MAE. [Pg.136]

Radium is removed from Mn-fibre by leaching with a mixture of hot hydroxylaminehy-drochloride and HO or HO alone. Leaching may be easily accomplished in a Soxhlet extraction apparatus (Section 13.2.3.2). Ihe extract is filtered and mixed with lOmL of saturated Ba(N03)2 solution followed by 25 mL of 7molfL H2SO4 to coprecipitate Ra with... [Pg.388]
