Its laboratory method of ptepn, given in Ref 8, p 192 and in PATR 1448, p 9, consists of two steps prepn of Pb hydroxide and of LDNR, Basic. To a soln of 18.96g of pb acetate in 67 ml of warm distd w add gradually, with stirring, 4.0 g of NaOH dissolved in 67 ml of w and continue stirring for 5 mins. After allowing to settle, wash the white ppt of Pb hydroxide, by decantation three times with 100ml of distd w, and use immediately for the next operation... 

Ubbelohde et al (Ref) describe a method of detg this period for initiating expls, such as LA (Lead Azide), MF (Mercuric Fulminate), LSt (Lead Styphnate), BaSt (Barium Styphnate) and Basic LDNR (Lead Dinitroresorcinate)... 

Among the various possible lead salts of DNR rally two have found industrial application as primary explosives normal lead salt of 2,4-dinitroresorcine (2,4-LDNR) and basic lead salt of 4,6-dinitroresorcine (basic 4,6-LDNR). 

Dmitroresorcinol (2,4-DNR) forms a variety of lead salts (2,4-LDNRs) including acid, normal, and a large number of basic ones. The most commonly used and best characterized is the normal 2,4-LDNR. 

Basic 2,4-LDNR (mono-, tri-, and tetra-) are prepared from the corresponding equimolar amounts of the sodium salt of DNR and lead nitrate in a basic environment [14] ...
