Late embryogenesis abundant proteins

A common feature of these studies was that they were conducted on seed tissues and the IAA-modified proteins had the characteristics of storage proteins or late embryogenesis abundant proteins. Thus, from these results, it was difficult to assign a specific function to the IAA proteins beyond a possible storage role for the phytohormone. More recently, this picture has changed somewhat with the isolation of an IAA protein from rapidly expanding strawberry fruit.31 Based on sequence homology, this IAA protein appears to be an ATP synthase, the first IAA protein that has an apparent enzymatic function. [Pg.14]
