Last Supper

Those who are justihed on the Day of Doom will be welcomed by the banquet which the Eucharist anticipates, a covenant proclaimed at the time of the Last Supper, as in Luke 22 20, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. In the engraving, another symbol of the sacramental covenant is the rainbow around the throne, an citation of God s promise to Noah in Genesis 9 13, reiterated in Revelation 4 3 where John sees around the throne of the Lamb a rainbow like an emerald in appearance. 

In the myth, the Grail appears upon the Table Round when the king and all his knights are gathered for court on the feast of Pentecost. Pentecost, or Whitsun, as it is also called, occurs fifty days after Easter (Christ s resurrection) and celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples when they are gathered together, in the same upper room in which they had celebrated the Last Supper with their master. The Divine Spirit descends like tongues of fire.

Breaking bread together is a well known figure of speech, indicative of people sharing a meal and the foundation of the Christian church is the Last Supper, when Christ broke bread with his disciples.
