Laser-inscribed Moldings

The production of laser-inscribed moldings from PMMA has been considered to be impossible in satisfactory quality without the addition of additives to increase the absorption coefficients of the laser radiation employed. However, blends based on PMMA and related acrylics have been described (30). 

Transparent molded articles having a high contrast laser inscription thereon are produced from a polymer mixture consisting of methacrylic esters, SAN, and rubber particles.
