The potential for multi-fluorochrome analysis has increased further with the availability of dyes excited by shorter wavelengths (such as Cascade blue) and longer wavelengths (such as Allophycocyamn and Texas red). With multiple laser flow cytometers, five cell-surface antigens (1) or more may be analyzed simultaneously. In principle, these methods are a natural extension of the methods outlined here, but require more sophisticated flow cytometers, and much more powerful computer facilities to explore the exponentially more complex data sets arising from such multiparameter analyses. [Pg.338]

Krishanswami and Rangaswami Ayyangar (1935) counted the haploid chromosome number to be 9 in E. indica, 18 in E. coracana, 18 in E. brevifolia, and 17 in . aegyptica, while Bisht and Mukai (2000) counted 36 chromosomes in . coracana, 18 in E. indica and E. tristachya, and 16 in E. multiflora. All these are annuals. For the perennials, E.floccifolia has 18, E. intermedia 18, and . jaegeri 20 chromosomes. Laser flow cytometry was... [Pg.218]

To obtain IR spectra on a time scale of nanoseconds, the sample cell in conventional spectrometers is usually excited by an Nd YAG laser. Flow cells with a pathlength of at least 0.1 mm must be used for photoreactive samples and the pulse repetition frequency is then limited to 1 Hz. In step scan FTIR spectroscopy,211 the time evolution is collected at single points of the interferogram, which is then reconstructed point-by-point and subsequently transformed to time-resolved IR spectra. Alternatively, dispersive instruments equipped with a strong IR source can be used.212 The time resolution of both methods is about 50 ns. FTIR instruments provide a triggerable fast-scan mode to collect a complete spectrum within a few milliseconds.213... [Pg.110]
